april and may through my i-phone

The past few months have been full of fun.  From 30th birthday parties, to Easter, a bridal shower, pregnancy excitement (including our fist sonogram...yay!), pups in the park at Nats stadium, the birth of baby Blake, Ball Hogs events, my 'first' mothers day, and a trip to Vegas... we have been busy!

poor abandoned blog...

I have been missing from he blogosphere for quite some time, three months to be exact, but for good reason...

We are expecting and couldn't be more excited.  Thinking about our "baby bean" has been the number one thing on our mind the past few months, and since we are just letting the news out to everyone, I finally feel comfortable writing about this great news on here.  Well the cat is out of the bag and I'm excited to get this blog rolling.

sleepy puppy

While I have been up late at night fighting these terrible spring allergies (sneeze sneeze sniff sniff), Lucky has been sleeping, literally everywhere.  I envy you dog, I envy you.

we're grandparents!

About a week ago, while cleaning the windows in our kitchen, I noticed that someone had made a home in our backyard.

I decided to walk out back and check it out.  There, in our empty flower basket, was a mourning dove.. and this dove was about to be a momma!

I decided to name her Bella, partially because of the alliteration (get it - Bella Bird) and partially because I had just finished watching Twilight Breaking Dawn that morning and it was still only mind.

Well, Bella sat happily in that nest for days.  She didn't move.  I checked on her day after day.  I even gave her some bread, figuring she had to be starving.

Today, from the kitchen, I noticed Bella was moving a lot more than usual. I grabbed my phone and ran downstairs.  There I saw...

...baby Bellas!

I called John to let him know the good news...we're grandparents!  He wasn't as amused.

Congrats Bella!

my bookshelf - divergent

There are only a few things I love more than a good book (let's see wine, chocolate covered strawberries, celebrity gossip..oh yeah and God, family, and friends of course). The other day, I was thinking about the type of books that I'm drawn to.  I really don't have one specific genre.  I love everything from ChickLit, to Historical Fiction, Young Adult Novels, Spiritual Books...the list continues. You name it and I've read it, and loved it.  As I was thinking about the books I've read lately that I just could NOT put down, they all seemed to have one thing in common, a strong, resilient, profound main character, usually a female (girl power).  This week I finished the book, Divergent, by Veronica Roth.  ADDICTING!  I would stay up until 1:00 in the morning, huddled around my little bedside lamp reading chapter after chapter.  Luckily this is trilogy (YAY). I can't wait to read the next book, although it's not available until May (sigh).  In the meantime, I've got a few books on my nook that I have yet to begin.  Happy Reading!

march through my i-phone

March was a busy month for us.  John turned the big 3-0 (o-l-d) and our adorable niece, Kaitlin, turned five. We celebrated both birthdays in Disney World.  Another huge, and I mean HUGE event took place this month.. the Hunger Games movie came out!  Obviously we were there opening night, Ashley, Kristin, myself and every tween in the county.
